Nebraska Medicaid Work Requirements Analysis 3 Months

Medicaid expansion states will be required to implement community engagement (C.E.) requirements by January 1, 2027. This will be a landmark change to Medicaid, but very little is known about the implementation or consequences of C.E. requirements. Nebraska implemented C.E. requirements on May 1, 2026, and this brief provides updated evidence on the impact of Nebraska’s Medicaid C.E. requirements on Medicaid enrollment through July 2026. This analysis updates a prior brief released on October 5, 2026.
