About the Hospital Price Transparency Data

Hilltop posts pricing data for certain hospitals in selected states (currently Medicaid expansion states and bordering non-expansion states). Hilltop downloads pricing data from hospital websites and transforms the raw data into a common data model to allow for across-hospital and across-state comparisons of hospital services.

Hilltop’s price transparency methodology  presents additional details on data collection, processing, format, and recommended uses. The pricing data is presented sequentially (i.e., in “tall” form), as opposed to side-by-side (i.e., “wide” form). The data files can be large and users may need a statistical program to download the files. Hilltop is posting the data by state as the data are cleaned and processed. Please check back frequently.
