We are proud to share that the Hilltop team including Chief Technology and Compliance Officer, Jim Clavin, PhD; Principal Policy Analyst, Christine Gill, PhD; Senior Data Scientist, Leigh Goetschius, PhD; Principal Data Scientist, Fei Han, PhD; and Director of Analytics & Research, Morgan Henderson, PhD was recognized as a top-10 finalist in the Crushing Fraud Chili Cook-Off Competition organized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Finalists in this national challenge received access to Medicare Fee-for-Service (FFS) Hospice, Part B, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) claims data via CMS’ Limited Data Sets and were tasked with applying their proposed AI/ML techniques to the data, submitting both a summary of their findings and proposed scalable analytic and policy solutions. Hilltop’s entry drew upon our extensive experience in explainable AI to demonstrate how transparent, trustworthy methods can detect fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare claims. While we did not take home the top prize, we extend our sincere congratulations to this year’s winner, Milliman, Inc. We are proud to have put forward a strong, innovative solution that reflects Hilltop’s leadership in this space.
