Hilltop Updates its Community Benefit State Law Profiles
and Publishes New Issue Brief |
The Hilltop Institute’s Hospital Community Benefit Program has just released an update of its online resource, the Community Benefit State Law Profiles, and has published a new issue brief in its Hospital Community Benefits after the ACA series.
Hilltop updated the Profiles—a compilation of each state’s community benefit laws and regulations, analyzed in the context of the ACA’s community benefit framework—to reflect changes that occurred between the initial publication of the Profiles in March 2013 and December 31, 2014. Each state’s Profile can be individually accessed through an interactive map on the Hospital Community Benefit Program website or by clicking on the adjacent image. In addition, the interactive state comparison table now includes maps for a visual representation of each community benefit requirement, and a new feature that allows the user to compare not only state to state, but also requirement to requirement. Click here for a summary of notable changes.
The issue brief, titled Hospital Community Benefits after the ACA: State Law Changes and Promotion of Community Health, examines state-level community benefit oversight by studying specific changes to community benefit statutes, regulations, and policies in 5 states—Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and New York—selected from among the 40 states known to provide oversight of any type. The changes enacted by these five states illustrate the diverse ways in which state-level policy is evolving.
